Seven Keys to Personal Happiness

  1. Take care of yourself. Be attentive to your own needs. Value yourself. Make time to do good things for yourself. Pamper yourself (within your budget) often.

  2. Create a balance in your life. Share your energies between yourself, your family members, your friends and your career. Remember, if you put all your energy in one area, difficulties will arise in others.

  3. Take stock of yourself. Who are you and what do you want in life? What have you done lately that will contribute to your sense of self-worth? Do something positive, take a course, call up an old friend or estranged family member. Don't let life pass you by.

  4. Dare to be you. Be yourself, not how you think others would like you to be. There is no other person like yourself. Trust yourself and like yourself.

  5. Nurture positive relationships. Surround yourself with people who care about you and treat you with respect. Avoid people who treat you badly.

  6. Become involved in your community. Volunteer your time, help out and contribute to the well-being of others. They will benefit and you will benefit.

  7. Keep a sense of humour. Remember, you are in control of your "problems" and you (sometimes with help) can make them manageable.

Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not a sign of weakness.
