As a counselling and psycho-educational program, the Partner Assault Response Program is aimed at helping participants stop their abusive, controlling and violent behaviors towards their partners. Also known as the Domestic Abuse Program or the Domestic Involvement Prevention Program (DIPP), it teaches participants to take ownership of their actions and overcome any and all challenges in their relationships.
Why would a court order you to join the Partner Assault Response Program?
There is no justification for domestic violence. If you have found yourself engaging in domestic violence towards your partner, and have been charged with assault, then the court will order you to participate in a PAR program Toronto to receive counseling and education.
The aim of the program is to not just hold offenders accountable for their actions, but to also help enhance the safety of the victim. During the program, participants are taught about non-abusive ways through which they can resolve conflict after examining their attitudes and beliefs towards domestic abuse. Participants also learn about the steps they need to take in order to sustain healthy relations with their respective partners.
At Counselling Associates, we conduct the PARS program on both one-on-one and group basis. This 12-week program spans across 1-2 hours sessions on a weekly basis. Not only do the individuals participate in the weekly sessions, they are also assigned home work to complete prior to the next class. At the end of the program, a completion certification is awarded to the participant that must be shown in court.
